PRESS RELEASE:
The latest Rebel Sonix single includes the tracks Waiting for Jah and Shangri-La.

Waiting for Jah is a collaboration between Rebel Sonix and Geek Boy and features a sample of Cocoa Tea from a BBC documentary on Jamaican music. This is actually a remake of one of Rebel Sonix Larry Holcombe's first ever tracks. The original was a Drum and Bass track but this new version is an epic Drumstep roller feat. dirty bass stabs and uplifting synths. Phil Rebel Sonix video features a load of classic Jamaican images mashed up in true Rebel Sonix style.

The second track on the ep is Shangri-La featuring rolling bass and eastern tinged vibes. The track also features a cheeky Bruce Lee sample from 'Enter the Dragon'. The track was produced around the time of Glastonbury festival, 2011. Rebel Sonix performed on the Shangri-La stage which seemed like a fitting name for the track.

Having spent a decade living & working in Asia the latest Rebel Sonix 'Shangri-La' was the perfect track for Phil 'Rebel VJ' Gee to unleash the one inch punch of visuals.

Hugely influenced by Japanese Animie, vintage Shaw Brothers Kung Fu and Chinese calligraphy the 'Shangri-La' visuals are the epitome of G's fanatical sub-cultures.

Behold the the Shaolin Thunder Kicking basslines, shrunken sharp visuals and more importantly; "don't think…feel…all you'll miss all the heavenly glory!"

'Friends of Noel' - Memorial Fund Information

NEED YOUR HELP!!! WE MUST NOT FORGOT AND ALWAYS TO REMEMBER...

On September 5th, 2011, 10 year old Noel Parcells and her 3 year old half sister, Mia Parcells were killed by their father. In order to help Noel’s mother (a full time student) with funeral expenses, a memorial fund has been established. To donate online to the fund, 'Friends of Noel' please visit SOUTHWEDGE.COM HERE. Donations collected go towards funeral expenses and any extra funds collected will go towards a Scholarship Fund set up in Memory of Noel to her school, Nativity Prep on Gregory Street in Rochester, NY.

“The Modest Illusion of Being”
Corporate America’s perception of fun through our eyes

Everyday technology is changing and with it comes the constant hammering of Corporate America into our heads. The stupid commercials, cheesy promotions, and ridiculous banter the over paid spoke model blabs about. The illusion being perceived is that with out these materialistic items our status in culture diminishes. The young adult novel FEED by M.T. Anderson exemplifies the strong hold Corporate America has over our lives. Struggling to find our meaning in life is the joy of living. A main character, Violet, is resisting the utter bullshit she receives through her feed. Her willingness to stay detached from commercialized desires is what makes her unique. With this ideal in mind, Violet explains “And gradually, everyone gets used to everything being basic, so we get less and less varied as people, more simple.” (Anderson 97). Her thought process is that there is so much out in the world to explore then just being drones to modern day society. She believes that if we do not try different things then we are no more than the item that we purchase – IRRELEVANT.
